Vitalie Vrabie: Compared to 2016, Customs Service registered a 17% growth in state budget in 2017

General Director of Customs Service, Vitalie Vrabie has made today an announcement regarding the money that were collected for the state budget in 2017. Therefore, last year, the amount collected for the state budget amounts to 20 billion 373 million lei, being by 2 billion 896 million lei, or nearly 17% more than in 2016.

"During 217, we were guided by the Government's program and have taken into account the activity of our neighbor countries, Romania and Ukraine, to maintain collaboration with our development partners, such as: World Customs Organization, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine, U.S. Embassy in Moldova, Chinese Embassy in Moldova, as well as other Embassies. Our activity was based on multiple directions, some of them being: strengthening the functional capabilities and institutional infrastructure of the Customs Service; optimizing the regulatory framework for customs activity; improving performance indicators for customs clearance of goods; ensuring the collection of the import right; seizing banned goods; increasing the transparency of the Customs Service. In 2017, we activated within three customs bodies from North, Center and South. In 2017 were brought to the state budget 20 billion 373 million lei, representing a 17% growth compared to 2016. The number of customs declarations in 2017 was particularly large on both import and export, therefore, consisting a 13% growth. At the same time, during this period were opened 37 files, regarding breaches and imposed fines worth 87 517 lei. During this period, the vehicle flux was of 98 552 crossings. Most being registered at Moldova-Romania borders, while most popular customs were Leușeni and Sculeni, with 16 101 and 11 576 crossings" General Director of Customs Service, Vitalie Vrabie said.
