The unpleasant smell that persists a few days in the Capital was discussed within a Governmental session.According to the Agricultural Minister Georgeta Mincu, was created a group which is investigating the river Bic pollution source.
'The group took samples and found out that the pollution source is the wastewater treatment plant from Chisinau which can't process all the amount of the water. The group is heading to all the economical agents to verify and draw up lawsuits to see if the law is respected. The first verified economical agent is Zernoff', Secretary of State Iuliana Cantaragiu said.Cantaragiu said that the economicl agent will be fined: 'It's necessary to calculate the caused damage'.
The PM Maia Sandu said that the sanctions must be tough.
We remind that the Apă Canal Chişinău representatives declared that the unpleasant smell could be the result of the flawed activity of two factories which don't have any pre-treatment wastewater plant and are throwing all the wastewater and trash in the Bic river.
Meanwhile, the Agency for Environment made public the first results of the taken probes. The level of laundry detergents exceeds 50 times the limits and the ammoniacal nitrogen exceeds 43 times. According to the specialists, these parameters endanger the flora and fauna of the river Bic. Instead of this, the former Head of Apă Canal Veronica Herta says that actually, the problem of the unpleasant smell returned in the public space before the electoral campaign, because some parties are interested of it.
The Prosecutor General's Office announced yesterday of incepting two criminal investigations on the unpleasant smell in the Capital.
