The first Moldovan to enroll in RacingThePlanet ultramarathon: Iulian Bercu arrived in New Zealand

Moldovan athlete Iulian Bercu arrived in New Zealand where he will participate in RacingThePlanet ultramarathon, which begins tomorrow.

For seven days, he will run 250 kilometers along with 180 other athletes from 35 countries. In a video posted on facebook, Iulian Bercu revealed that during this time, he will not have access to the internet.

Participants have to face a route that passes through mountains and forests, with temperatures ranging from 20 degrees to minus 10 degrees Celsius.

RacingThePlanet Ultramarathon has strict rules of participation. Athletes must carry a backpack weighed at least 30kg with 37 mandatory items, including medical kit, flashlights and water drums.

"We will run 250 kilometers in the next seven days. We carry all our food, all the clothes, all the devices, the sleeping bag and all kinds of protective foils, "said the athlete.

Iulian Bercu's great dream is to take part in an extreme competition in the Alps.
