More and more Moldovans living in rural areas give up agricultural works and start successful business in different fields. Only in the Sângerei district, over 100 new firms emerged last year.
Lidia Bârsanu got the business idea after sewing a dress for her daughter. She then attended training courses and got a grant of MDL26,000 to buy a broidering machine.
Now she basically sews national costumes. She employs two seamstresses and an engineer. Lidia wants hire six people more to expand her business.
Aged 26, Roman Buracioc makes furniture and employs three people. He plans to hire six more people after buying new equipment. "Our dream is that every house have products of ours, at a good price," he says.
