Pavel Filip: Moldova, willing to expand cooperation with Ukraine regarding border control

Chișinău is willing to expand its cooperation with Ukraine regarding the joint control of the border. Envisaged are the border-crossing points Cuciurgan-Pervomaysk and Palanca-Mayaki-Udobnoe.

Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip has made the statement for the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

He has underscored that now the EUI backs the joint control of the frontier.

The projects match the expectations of citizens from both countries, as they aim at fighting smuggling, illegal migration and other negative phenomena. The EU Border Assistance Mission started working in 2005.

Speaking about Moldova’s external policy, Pavel Filip has said: "I am firmly confident the Association Agreement with the EU, signed both by Ukraine Moldova, opens wide prospects for strengthening the links between the two countries, especially by implementing the Free Trade Agreement."

On February 13, the Moldovan Prime Minister starts a trip to Kyiv and will meet President Poroshenko and his counterpart Vladimir Hroysman.
