Pavel Filip at UN tribune: We call on Russian Federation to start to withdrawal military forces from territory of Moldova

Russia must start immediately the process of withdrawing troops and ammunition from the territory of Moldova. The appeal was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in his speech at the UN General Assembly. The head of the government reiterated that this will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.

"We call on the Russian Federation to cease these illegal and provocative activities and to resume, unconditionally and without delay, the process of withdrawing its military forces and armaments, in line with the commitments made at the 1999 Istanbul OSCE Summit", said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

Pavel Filip also appreciated the inclusion in the agenda of the UN General Assembly session of a new point titled "Complete Withdrawal of Foreign Military Forces on the Territory of the Republic of Moldova".

"The Government of the Republic of Moldova welcomes this important UN decision, which intervenes in a period characterized by the deterioration of internal and sub-regional security as a result of the multiplication of the destabilizing actions of the foreign military forces and of the unconstitutional paramilitary structures in the eastern part of the country", said Premier Pavel Filip.

According to the prime minister, these actions from Moscow contradicts the commitments made in the 5+2 format.
From the UN tribune, Pavel Filip also referred to the European integration objective, including the achievements made under the Association Agreement with the EU, actions that led to the development of trade and the emergence of new opportunities for local producers.

"By harmonizing national and European legislation, we aim to bring the country closer to the EU and to ensure the sustainability of the modernization process. I am convinced that the implementation of the Association Agreement is the best and most viable option that would ensure a prosperous and sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova", said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

Pavel Filip also talked about the development strategy "Moldova 2030", developed by the Government. The document highlights the welfare, human rights, environmental protection and the development of an inclusive society as the main priorities.
