The prevention and fight against corruption among the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will be based on a new action plan. The document approved by the Government today contains over 40 measures to increase the level of integrity within the MIA.
Among them - performing unannounced checks of employees and sanctioning them in case of violation of the integrity requirements, implementation of corruption risk management, application of the new security requirements in the information systems to prevent risks of information distortion.
Staff training will also be organized and integrity curricula will be developed for the MIA educational institutions. The mechanism of engaging and promoting civil servants based on merit and professional integrity will be streamlined, denouncing corruption manifestations will be encouraged, and integrity protectors will be protected. At the same time, the possibility to provide MIA services through single window shops and online will be examined.
Other measures aim at ensuring transparency in the promotion of normative acts and management of public patrimony and external assistance.
In order to efficiently manage the corruption challenges and to establish a unitary and coherent system of institutional and professional integrity, the Internal Protection and Anti-Corruption Service was created within the MIA.
During the year 2017 the normative framework was improved, the video surveillance of patrol police crews was implemented and the mechanism of financial incentives of the employees was approved in the amount of 25 percent of the fines collected.
