Birth allowance for mothers will be increased this year. The new allocation will be 5645 lei, 345 lei higher and will be reached to 35,000 families in 2018.
Two million lei has been allocated by the Government for this activity.
Tatiana Blaj has a 12-year-old child. She gave birth to a baby few days ago. She made a list of necessary things she would buy with the increased allowance.
Other mothers also welcomed the government's initiative.
"We need higher allowance for expenditure on raising a baby. It's really beneficial".
The representatives of the Ministry of Health and Labor say that through this initiative they want to increase the birth rate in the Moldova.
"We want to enact all measures to support families with children. The allowance is also established based on the actual price index", says Viorica Dumbrăveanu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health
The most significant increase in the birth allowance was made at the end of 2016. At that time, Parliament passed a bill that increased the allowance from 3,100 lei to 5,300.
