Traditionally, people participate in debates organized for Europe Day and gain more information regarding European Union.
Victory in Europe Day took place on Tuesday, May 8, 1945, when allied forces announced that Germany has surrendered, marking the end of the Second World War.

On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, which broke out World War II.

In December 1941, Japan attacked the American Military base in Pearl Harbor, which led to the United States' entry into World War II.
This is considered the true beginning of the Second World War, which lasted six years and claimed the lives of at least 60 million people.
