Infrastructure development and integration into European transport networks, rail modernization, energy sector reforms - were the main topics discussed by Economy and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici during a meeting with the Executive Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Eastern Europe (EBRD) and the Caucasus, Matteo Patrone.
Representatives of the EBRD in Moldova, headed by Angela Sax, Head of the EBRD Office in Moldova, also took part in the workshop. According to Chiril Gaburici, the support and EBRD expertise is extremely important for the Republic of Moldova.
The CFM leaders said the document foresees the initiation of a reorganization by separating the CFM into three independent equity firms for infrastructure, passenger and freight. At the same time, the creation of the Railway Agency, the Accident Investigation Authority, as well as the opening of the CFM market for private actors and the attraction of the new railway operators.
Currently, EBRD supports projects in the Republic of Moldova, most of the financial resources have been allocated to infrastructure development - over 60% and the energy sector - about 20%.
