Authorities have launched a fundraising campaign for the reconstruction of the National Philharmonic after the yesterday's fierce fire almost completely destroyed the culture building. It will most likely have to be completely rebuilt.
A team of Government and Presidency representatives went to the scene to assess the situation.
"It is impossible to restore. Firefighters are still working, the place needs to be cleaned, the roof is falling, all the garbage needs to be removed. This is the first stage, this is what needs to be done urgently. It'll be built from scratch in the second stage", said President Igor Dodon.
Authorities are examining the possibility of organizing a competition, a construction project of the Philharmonic.
"A special account has already been opened for the accumulation of sources. It will cost a lot, hundreds of millions of lei, to build a Philharmonic that other generations will enjoy. Yesterday I was contacted by some potential sponsors. The first million of lei was donated and we are starting a national fundraising campaign, we are waiting for all those who want it, external partners to come with donations. Let's come with support to build a new Philharmonic. ", Dodon urged all citizens.
Government representatives are to meet in a meeting to find solutions for the homeless artists. Spaces will be sought for the relocation of the team for rehearsals and activities.
