Left her baby at the maternity, and now cannot take it back. A woman gave birth to a baby out of wedlock, but left it at the hospital, being afraid that her family would chase her out.
After understanding her actions, the woman wanted to take the baby back, but the tutelary authorities deny giving the baby back, even though the woman has the full rights over the baby.
Moreover, they asked the law court to strip the woman of parental rights.
Tatiana gave birth to a girl on June 11th, 2015, at Balti maternity, and held the baby in her arms only for a few hours.
The woman says that she held the pregnancy a secret, because the baby was conceived out of wedlock. At home she has two more kids, so she signed the refusal document, and only after a month the baby was given to a foster family from Balti.
When the relatives have found out, they tried to take the baby back, but the authorities have declined.
“Even though the mother has abandoned the baby, there are no rights to give the baby for adoption or foster care. This is the law, the mother has the right to change her mind”, says the deputy director of Balti Foster Home, Nicolae Mititelu.
Still, the responsible has got entangled in his own declarations.
“The foster authority has to evaluate all the relatives of the baby, no matter where they are” says CCF Moldova program manager, Lorina Ghitu.
In the case of Tatiana’s baby, this was not done. The Chief of Family and Social Protection Division, Veronica Munteanu, has declined to talk in front of the camera.
The specialists from the Ministry of Labour, Social and Family Protection are insisting that they will request an investigation for this case.
