Former first deputy general prosecutor Andrei Pantea condemned to two years suspended prison

Former first deputy general prosecutor Andrei Pantea was sentenced today to two years suspended prison sentence. He also will not be entitled to hold the position of judge or prosecutor for three years. The sentence was imposed by Rascani sector Court for excess of work duties.

Andrei Pantea was found guilty for transferring two years ago, the case of so-called thief in law Grigore Caramalac, aka Bulgaru, to Russia, where he was acquitted. At that time, Andrei Pantea acted as Deputy Attorney General.

The investigation found that his actions had favored removing Grigore Caramalac from the indictment. Former first deputy general prosecutor has admitted his guilt.
