Prime Minister Pavel Filip has met with entrepreneurs and has discussed about what moves the authorities must undertake to avoid the double certification of imported animal-origin foodstuffs, within the Economic Council.
The problem is that the Moldovan authorities do not recognize the sanitary-veterinary certificates issued by European authorities and this means the importers must pay additionally to have them certified in Moldova.
The Prime Minister has suggested the problem should be solved by taking into account the interests of local food processors and has asked the Economic Council to come up with legislative amendments.
Another problem is managing the waste resulting from processing animal-origin food, since the only specialized company can hardly handle the amount of expired foodstuffs.
Again, the business experts from the Council have been asked to propose ways out within two weeks.
