The indemnity the state pays for giving birth is planned to be raised from 2,200 lei to 5,300 lei. The bill drafted by the Labor and Family Ministry is to be broached today by the Cabinet.
The allowance amount has been computed by Moldovan scientists and provides for a package of items needed by newborns. The increase means the state will have to pay an extra of 90 million lei.
The state also intends to pay 270 lei more monthly in cases of twins or more babies from the same pregnancy.
Statistically about 40,000 babies are born yearly in Moldova.
