Economy minister forecasts surge in foreign investments and exports

Bringing in foreign investment, improving the business environment and enhancing exports are several of the objectives of the Economy Ministry deputy premier.

Octavian Calmîc talked about at the talk show Fabrika on Publika TV last night.

"We focus on improving the business environment, friendly to companies. We plan to finish the reform on controlling bodies, to create an online registry of state controls. We intend to improve the investment climate. We have a series of programs supporting businesses and creating business infrastructure especially in the rural areas."

The Economy Ministry is negotiating free trade deals with Egypt and China, and tries to better the relations with Russia: "We optimistically expect positive developments. We’ll continue the dialogue with the Russian side to reestablish the relations, despite the fact that Russia imposes tariff and non-tariff measures, which may not be justified."

The official also says the gas pipe linking Ungheni to Chişinău will be functional by 2019.

"Moldova now is the closest to make this dream come true: being linked to the European energy market, in terms of natural gas and electric power,” Octavian Calmic said.
