(14:39) 24 persons have been detained as a result of searches conducted at Sculeni and Leuseni customs points. They are 13 customs inspectors, three border policemen, four entrepreneurs, and four drivers.
The searches are carried out by National Anti-corruption Centre and the Prosecutor's Office in collaboration with the Customs Service.
The searches, started in the first hours of the day, are continued even now.
The border crossing points have been closed for three hours. Because of this, at the entry of Sculeni custom point have been formed huge queues.
People waiting to cross the border think that this kind of actions have to be carried out more often.
According to CNA, the verifications are carried out in a corruption case. The operation is conducted in cooperation with Customs Service.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that a month ago, other 28 customs officers from Tudora and Palanca customs points have been detained in a similar operation.
The customs officers asked for money from people who were transporting food products in Ukraine. This way, people were crossing the border without being verified.
Money in different currencies have been found at the manager of Tudora and Palanca customs points.
At Palanca customs point were also found similar breaches.
