Around 8,000 homes in the country, including 3,000 in the capital, remain privatized. People do not rush to take possession of the apartments received from the state, because the deadline has been extended until May 31, 2018.
Victoria Enachi has submitted the application for the privatization of the apartment of 23 square meters in summer, but she was glad that the deadline has been extended since she gained time to gather the documents.
The applications for the privatization can be submitted at the Directorate Economy, Reforms and Propriety Relations. The queues disappeared after the new deadline has been announced.
"Before, there were over 200 applications per week. Now, people are more relaxed knowing they have another year and half to submit the applications" , said head of the Economy, Reforms and Proprietary Relations, Mihai Cojocaru.
The price for the privatization of a square meter ranges from 10 lei up to 13,000 lei.
An apartment of 32 square meters in the Botanica sector of the capital costs nearly 22,000 lei.
Certain categories of persons can benefit from free privatization.
After May 31st, 2018 the privatization of apartments will not be possible, the apartments being transformed in social housing. Municipalities will have to sign contracts for a period of five years.
So far, around 180,000 apartments have been privatized in Chisinau.
