The harvest is in danger after last week's heavy snowfall. According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Agriculture, the harvest will decrease by 15 percent due to the natural disasters.
The damage will be registered most in the central and southern districts on Moldova. The evaluation results will be announced after May 5th.
This year, the sudden change in temperatures has compromised the plantations. The corn and sunflower are in danger. Fore the protection of each hectare, farmers will have to spend an average of 200 lei.
Traders assure that the price of chemicals will not increase in the next period.
According to the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rainfall and humidity would have beneficial effects on sugar beet areas in the north of the country. Altogether, over 23,000 hectares have been grown.
