Chisinau will welcome dozens benches made of concrete in April. These will be placed on Mircea cel Batran Boulevard, in the Ciocana sector. They are underway construction.
Designs, architects and technicians have been working on this project for over two months.
"We want to make comfortable benches attached with trash cans", said Elena Meseaţ, 3D printer project manager.
The initiative is part of the project Sustainable green cities for Moldova, implemented by UNDP.
Grant of $ 7,700 is provided along with company's contribution of $ 3,000. Benches will be provided free to the municipality.
"It's an innovative project because it involves 3D printing technology. They can't be made traditionally and are impossibly vandalized", said Alexandru Rotaru, UNDP project manager.
Head of Ciocana sector said he was proposed to modernize the area and the benches are unprecedented idea.
"They're modern and beautiful", said Sinilga Şcolnic, the head of Ciocana sector.
Residents of Ciocana admitted they could hardly imagine how the 3D benches looked like.
"Very unusual! They're necessary nowadays".
"I'm looking forward to admiring these benches".
There are only ten 3D printed benches in the country, nine benches are on private courtyards and the last one is in Razeni commune in Ialoveni district
