Chiril Gaburici: If the use of the official name of the state will help a producer to reach beyond the borders of Moldova, we will support the use of the name of the country

We should promote the local manufactures. If the use of the official name of the state will help a producer to reach the borders of the Republic of Moldova, we will support the use of the name of the country, but so that we do not put in difficulty or remove other producers from the market. The designation of a product should not become a barrier to the country's economic development for the activity of other market players. " The statement was made by the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Mr. Chiril Gaburici, who chaired today the meeting of the Commission for the examination of the applications for permission to use the official or historical name of the state in the product and / or service mark as well as in his industrial design .

According to Minister Cyril Gaburici, these requests must be analyzed very carefully. "Any such request must be thoroughly examined - not to infringe an economic operator's right to use the name of the state in its products, at the same time, not to allow the monopoly of the market by a single producer and to limit the rights of other economic agents who work in the same field, "the minister pointed out.

The members of the Commission have examined 8 requests for the use of the name of the State. Following the examination, 3 marks and 2 designs were granted permission to use the official or historical name of the state. It has also been approved to transfer rights to a trademark containing the official or historical name of the state. An application for the registration of the mark was postponed on the basis of the applicant's request and another was rejected by the members of the Commission.

Areas of activity provided by applicants are diverse, such as public catering, education, training, pharmaceuticals, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, information and publicity services, etc. requests for the use of the State's name in the composition of trademarks that have been filed with the State Agency for Intellectual Property (AGEPI).
