The fireman who lost his battle with the flames was only 28 years old. The young hero was taken out from the building full of fire and smoke on the arms of his comrades, but did not give any signs of life. Unfortunately, doctors could not do anything. The rescuer was married and had two twin girls aged three.
"He was given to the 903 Service, who conducted rescue practices on the person, but unfortunately he died. We are talking about an employee of the Emergency Situations Service from the Republican Center of Operational Interventions, a man of 28 years, who fell while on duty" declared the DSE press officer Liliana Puscasu.
Ivan Nogailic was a true professional. He was leading the rescuers and firefighters team of the Republican Center of operational intervention. The young man was the first one to enter the building to rescue trapped persons.
Due to low visibility, he fell into the void from a height of three and a half meters.
After nearly an hour of searching, his colleagues found him, but it was too late.
In a Government emergency meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip asked for the savior to be capped posthumously.
"I ask the colleagues from office, taking into account the professionalism and dedication of Sergeant Major Nogailic Ivan, who died in the liquidation of the fire. To prepare all documents required to propose to confer posthumously the highest distinction of the Republic of Moldova" said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
Sensitized by this tragedy, many people were mobilized on social networks. They collected supplies and money to help the family of the hero.
Also,PDM first deputy, Vlad Plahotniuc expressed solidarity with the family of the firefighter Ivan Nogailic. He announced that, together with the Foundation Edelweiss, will offer material assistance worth 150,000 lei.
And thereafter, every month for a year, the family will receive 15,000 lei for the maintenance of the two twin girls who were left fatherless.
