The state indemnity at birth, raised to the value of the things a newborn needs, will be valid as from tomorrow, as it will be published in Monitorul Oficial.
The amount will be set annually by the Government, following recommendations of the Academy of Science. It’s 5,300 lei ($265,) this year.
Mothers, who were not employed before the birth, will receive the state subsidy during 2 years, instead 1.5 years.
Also, the indemnity in case of twins is raised by 50%.
The orphans will continue to get the state indemnity in case they continue studying.
Raising these social payments is part of the Government’s demographic policy aiming at increasing the birth rate. 48,012 babies were born in Moldova in 2009, while in 2015 – 38,592.
