Benefits of Republic of Moldova - UN Partnership, evaluated at Government

Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Dafina Gercheva, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova, today chaired the third meeting of the United Nations (UN) - Republic of Moldova Partnership Coordination Committee. During the meeting, the benefits of the UN-Republic of Moldova partnership were assessed and ways to overcome the difficulties in meeting the common objectives were discussed.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed gratitude to the UN for valuable and long-term assistance to the Republic of Moldova in implementing the reform agenda and advancing on the road to modernizing the country.

"We continue to count on UN support in ensuring the sustainable development of our country through good governance and respect for human rights, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and last but not least, equitable social development. The government opts for the effective capitalization of UN assistance, which will have tangible results for citizens and increase their living standards, "the prime minister said.

Participants at the meeting assessed the achievement in 2017 of the UN-Moldova Partnership Framework 2013-2017, as well as progress in the implementation of the new Partnership Framework for the period 2018-2022.

The results of the joint program for last year cover three dimensions: democratic governance, justice, gender equality and human rights; human development and social inclusion; environment, climate change and disaster risk management. UN Resident Coordinator Dafina Gercheva, UNDP resident representative in Moldova, stressed that the UN is firmly committed to further developing co-operation with our country and thanked the Government for its excellent cooperation.

Regarding implementation of the new Partnership Framework, which is an essential tool for the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDO) in our country, representatives of UN agencies showed positive developments for building governance transparent and accountable, ensuring that economic growth sustainable, and to improve sustainable environmental management. The rapporteurs stressed the importance of ensuring better mobilization of human and financial resources to achieve all the priorities and targets set.

It also analyzed the process of developing the National Development Strategy "Moldova 2030".

Not later than September, it will be exposed to public consultations. "Adoption of the Strategy is a Government priority in the context of alignment with Agenda 2030 and the provisions of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. It is a very important strategic document, centered on man, which determines the development vision of our country according to the ten established objectives ", emphasized Pavel Filip.

The prime minister called for maximum involvement of public authorities in the process of finalizing the Strategy, as well as implementing the current UN-Moldova partnership framework.
