ACUM MPs are underway to submit motion of no-confidence against Chicu Government

MPs of the bloc ACUM are underway to submit a motion against the Chicu Cabinet. According to PAS MP Mihai Popşoi, the reason for dismissing related to Russians taking over Chisinau Airport.

ACUM MPs are calling for an extraordinary session of Parliament and are counting on the votes of all the MPs, except for the Socialists.

"Regarding the motion, we count on the support of the Democratic Party and the Sor Party because surrendering Chisinau airport poses a considerable threat to Moldovan national security. We will call on the Democratic MPs to debate this important topic in the Parliament", MP Mihai Popşoi said on phone.

However, President Igor Dodon said the reason invoked by ACUM MPs is unfounded and only 33 MPs of bloc ACUM and Sor Party would vote for the motion. He ruled out the chance that PDM MPs would support this motion.

The new owner of Chisinau International Airport is Andrey Goncharenko, the CEO of a Gazprom subsidiary and a business partner with Boris Rotenberg, wrties Rotenberg was listed by Forbes as Russia's 69th wealthiest person in 2016 with a net worth of $1.07 billion and considered to have close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The company owned by British billionaire Nat Rothschild pulled out of the management of Chisinau International Airport, following months of disputes.

Dodon said Rothschild's company actually realized the illegalities in the concession agreement and consequently decided to give up this dirty deal.

Finding out the new Russian investor owning Chisinau airport, PPDA MPs have accused Igor Dodon of surrendering Moldova to Russians.

However, the head of state denied any involvement although he told the Russian press in September that a Russian entrepreneur could take over the airport.
