Volunteers clean up Chisinau’s river

Dozens of volunteers got out yesterday and tidied up the Bac River, which crosses Chisinau.

The chief of the Chişinău Ecological Agency, Ustim Stîrcea, greeted the young volunteers’ initiative: "The plastic bottles were brought into the river by the melting snow."

Those 40 young people managed to fill 140 sacks of plastic bottles in three hours, which were taken over by a recycling company.

According to the company, as many as 20 tonnes of plastic bottles are collected monthly in Moldova’s capital city.
