Orthodox Christians celebrate Epiphany Eve today, January 18th. On this day believers are fast to go the church in order to get sprinkled with Holy water.

Dozens of parishioners came to the Metropolitan Cathedral Nativity to take holy water, which it's believed helps people get rid of diseases.

People say that the holy water heals wounds and keeps the house at peace.

Epiphany Eve is a good opportunity to earn money. Traders usually sell basil and holy water bottles around the Cathedral.

It's said that when people take Holy water from the church, they should not argue otherwise the water loses its sacredness.  On the eve of Epiphany, the villages get sprinkled with holy water.
