The CNA, Moldova’s corruption fighting agency, has explained why Iurie Chirinciuc has been put behind bars for 72 h, being envisaged in a corruption probe.
The chief of the Roads State Administration and the managers of two companies have also being detained in the same file.
The above-mentioned are suspected of complicity in pressing the company, which had won the auction to build a road on money from the European Investment Bank, to yield a part of works to some firms affiliated with the suspects.
In 2016-2017, the minister and the Roads Administration chief tergiversated signing the necessary documents for the winning company to continue the works. They also demanded it to sign subcontracts with the firms close to the suspects.
