Fourth day in garbage. Waste overwhelms Moldova’s capital

A group officials formed by Premier Pavel Filip met yesterday with the striking inhabitants of Bubuieci but failed to find a solution to clean up the city from garbage.

The locals from this village near Chisinau blocked on Thursday the road to a garbage dump and the trucks cannot reach to evacuate the waste.

A new meeting is due to take place today at the Chisinau city hall in an attempt to find a solution to the garbage having flooded the city.

The working group proposed the locals to build them a water cleaning station, but they rejected the offer.

According environmentalists, the dump near Bubuieci is not authorized and does not match the environment norms, although being the single place where the garbage from Chisinau can be evacuated.

Now the working group is to meet the authorities from Țânțăreni village, where there is an older dump, but the locals had also protested earlier against its usage.

Meanwhile the street of Chisinau are full of waste.
