European Investment Bank will offer Moldova an 80 mln loan for electricity interconnection with Romania

Bright future is foreseen in the energy sector. The Government has decided to begin negotiating with the European Investment Bank to draw a Contract Financing for electricity interconnection between Moldova and Romania.

For this, Republic of Moldova will receive an 80 million euro loan. The money will be used to build a station in Vulcănești, a new transmission line and extend some electrical substations. The necessary infrastructure will also be developed.

The authors of this project claim that this will ensure cheaper electricity bills for consumers.

The total cost of this project is estimated to be of 270 million euro.
